Abstract

Hospital wastewater has a negative impact on the environment that can pose a serious threat to the environment and public health if not managed properly. One form of effort to prevent environmental pollution is the existence of a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the wastewater quality and WWTP performance as well as the WWTP design of Hospital X. The analysis was carried out by comparing the quality of wastewater before and after treatment and comparing the quality of wastewater effluent which refers to the quality standards of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 68 of 2016. Parameters measured include pH, temperature, ammonia, BOD, COD, TSS, oil and fat, and total coliform. The WWTP design was compared with several existing design criteria. The evaluation results showed that all effluent wastewater quality met the quality standards. However, there are still several WWTP units that are not in accordance with the existing design criteria, namely in the septic tank unit, sedimentation basin, anaerobic basin, and aerobic basin.
