Abstract

The development of the hospitality business in Bandung has had a positive impact on the city's economy. However, the increase in the number of hotels has also negatively affected the environment, particularly due to the rise in the amount of domestic wastewater generated by hotel activities. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and to ensure that the WWTP is still suitable for use, so that the quality of the wastewater produced by the plant meets the established standards and does not pollute the environment, especially the receiving water bodies. Additionally, the study aims to provide recommendations for improving the performance of the treatment plant based on the evaluation results to the relevant companies. The methods used in this evaluation include interviews, observations, and document studies. The wastewater treated in the WWTP comes from activities in the kitchen, bar/restaurant/café, hotel rooms, and offices, classified as grey water. The removal rate of the parameters falls within the efficient category. However, almost all WWTP units do not meet the proper design criteria, except for the parameters of media type and the BOD/COD ratio in the Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC).
