Abstract

Cimahi City is traversed by five rivers that are part of the Citarum Watershed, namely the Cimahi, Cisangkan, Cibabat, Cibaligo, and Cibeureum Rivers. The land use in Cimahi City consists of residential, educational, public service, trade and services, industrial, and public service areas, whose waste eventually discharges into the rivers. The impact of these activities has led to river pollution and a decline in water quality. The Pollution Index method is used to assess the water quality status based on the Decree of the State Minister for the Environment Number 115 of 2003. The research results show that the rivers in Cimahi City have a Pollution Index in the severe category at almost all observation points, except for the upstream point of the Cimahi River, which has a Pollution Index in the moderately polluted category. The residential sector contributes more significantly to the pollutant load entering the water bodies compared to the agricultural sector. One strategy that can be implemented for pollution control in the watersheds located in Cimahi City is the planning of a domestic wastewater management system.
