Abstract

Groundwater is a vital resource that is crucial for the sustainability of humans and ecosystems. The area around the Upper Watershed Citarum River serves as the main source of groundwater, which is extensively utilized by the people of Bandung Regency for daily water needs. However, the quality of this groundwater has been declining and poses a potential risk to the overall quality of the Citarum River. In this practical work, the Piper diagram is used to identify the chemical facies of water and observe changes in the hydrochemical parameters of groundwater in Bandung Regency. A total of 16 groundwater samples were analyzed for temperature, pH, TDS, and electrical conductivity, as well as the main cation and anion parameters, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, HCO3⁻, Cl⁻, and SO42⁻. The research results indicated a dominance of the cations Ca2+ and Mg2+ in areas with high slopes, while Na+ dominated in low-slope areas, and HCO3- and Cl- were the dominant anions in groundwater samples. Additionally, four water facies were identified, including Ca-Na-HCO3, Ca-HCO3, Ca-Mg-Cl, Na-HCO3, and Na-Cl. Keywords: Hydrochemistry, Groundwater, Upper Watershed Citarum, Piper Diagram
