Abstract
Wastewater is the discharge or residue from all activities involving water use. Meanwhile, domestic wastewater refers to wastewater that originates from water use in household activities. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the performance of the wastewater treatment plant in Melong Village, Cimahi City. Primary data was obtained directly through interviews with informants related to wastewater treatment plants, field surveys by conducting direct observations of the plants, and documentation, while secondary data was obtained from publicly available company documents. The data consists of the quality of influent and effluent wastewater treatment plant (IPAL), the number of households served, and the maintenance costs of the IPAL in Melong Village. The issue present, such as the bioball mesh in the anaerobic unit of the Melong sub-district wastewater treatment plant, is damaged, which prevents microbes from growing effectively. Additionally, the waste entering the wastewater treatment plant usually comes in small sizes that are not filtered out by the screening, such as hair, fabric scraps, and plastic fragments. If this is not addressed promptly, it could affect the performance of the pump and may even lead to damage. When the pump is broken, there will be no flow to the equalization tank, and wastewater will overflow from the wastewater treatment plant (IPAL). The evaluation results based on the issues at the wastewater treatment plant regarding wastewater quality indicate that the problems at the Melong sub-district's IPAL significantly affect the quality of the wastewater produced. Therefore, proper repairs and maintenance need to be carried out.
