Abstract

Clean environment is a crucial aspect of human life, but environmental cleanliness continues to be a problem in Indonesia, primarily due to a lack of community awareness. The tofu industry, one of the food sectors, produces liquid waste with high pollution levels if not properly managed. Cibuntu, City of Bandung, faces a serious issue in managing tofu industry waste, with liquid waste having high levels of COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand). Calculations indicate that the Cibuntu tofu industry's wastewater does not meet quality standards, requiring reduction efforts at various stages of production. The proposed solution is to channel wastewater through pipes to a new Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL) with units consisting of equalization tank, neutralization tank, anaerobic biodigester, anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR), anaerobic biofilter, and sanitary pond. To address this issue, proper waste management, appropriate treatment technology, and increased public awareness of the importance of waste management are necessary. Keywords: Environment, Liquid Waste, Cibuntu Tofu, Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL)
