Abstract

concrete block is introduced as one of an alternative armour unit of the rubble mound type of coastal protection structure. It is expected that I block have a higher value of stability coefficient, Kd, and lower run up coefficient, r. Research on the performance of I block had been carried out by laboratory experiment and feld research. From the laboratory experiment resulted that the value of stability coefficient, Kd, between 36 to 44; meanwhile average run up coefficient, r is 0.37. Field research is carried out by constructing prototype at Eretan beach - West Java. From the field research concluded that installation of the block is relatively easy, while the structure is stable againts wave action. This paper explains the activities of laboratory and field research, completed with data calculation.
