Abstract

Current harmonics and imbalance loads on a power distribution system always occur. It also served some non linear load, that cause current harmonics, such as computers, printers, and so on in homes. This research and analysis of the current harmonics effects on an autotransformer used the linear loads of 25, 50, 75, 100, 200 and 300 watt of lamps and the nonlinear load of monitor 20 W, printer 10 W, electronic fluorescence lamps 23 and TL lamp of 36 W, as give an idea of the destructive harmonics. The harmonics influences would be tested at the autotransformer 380 V used a frequency rating 50 Hz. The harmonic measurements used an oscilloscope and a clamp-on power hi-tester, under load voltage at 220 volt. The linear load harmonic THD values were 0 - 4.13 %. On the other hand, the current harmonic THD values of non linear loads were until 105 %. These cases indicated those the values of current harmonics far exceeded the standard limit of 15.17%.
